The SVN Video Camp gets underway this July at the Newhouse School of Public Communications,

Syracuse, New York the week of July 17th through July 22nd. Taught by industry experts, and seasoned educational professionals including staff members from the Newhouse School, attendees can choose either Track A: Filmmaking Essentials, or Track B: Broadcast Production. There will also be specialized hands-on Workshops offered throughout the session.

Track A – Filmmaking Essentials: Toolkit for 21st Century Storytellers - covers all aspects of digital filmmaking as they relate to the unique interests and objectives of participants. Filmmaking team leaders will guide participants through level-specific project-based exercises touching on all phases of production from concept to distribution. This is a class for teachers who want to improve their teaching skills related to the basics of film and video production for multiple purposes. This track will include sections on filmmaking writing strategies, production and post-production techniques and web tools.

Starting with the basics of how, where, what programming and which equipment to use, Track B – Broadcast Production - will take attendees through production of a daily or weekly news broadcast culminating with your own broadcast on the last day of camp. This track will also include segments on Sports Broadcasting and Streaming Your Productions.

The SVN Video Camp will offer you the best in professional development through hands-on Workshops. Learn from the best of the academic and professional world. Our depth of knowledge includes, Faraz Ahmed, Barry Starlin Britt, Albert Dupont, Misty Gentle, Christina Hamlett, Phil Harris, Janet Kerby, Matt Peschau, Jeff Rowe, Dr. Michael Schoonmaker, Kelsey Wasung and educators from the Newhouse faculty.

The Newhouse School of Public Communications is one of the world's most complete centers for the study of mass communications. The facility houses two television studios, a broadcast news lab, a field-equipment check-out facility, and non-linear editing suites, all of which will be available to SVN Video Camp attendees.

Camp tuition includes housing in the Ernie Davis Residence Hall on-campus at Syracuse University. Breakfast and lunches are included as well as an exciting closing banquet. Optional housing available at the Sheraton Syracuse located across the street from camp.
