eSchool News is the Vanguard of Video for Educators

eSN-TV Offers Free Ed-Tech Videos for Schools, Colleges, Communities

"Education stakeholders are hungry for technology news relevant to their schools," says Gregg W. Downey, eSchool News editor and publisher. "Those school systems with educational cable channels also are eager for high-quality ed-tech programming."

With that mind, eSchool News, publisher of the monthly print newspaper eSchool News and its companion web site, eSchool News Online, set out to create video programming for the education field that is compelling, useful and accessible to any and all educators.

eSN's first foray into video came with the November 2006 launch of eSN TechWatch, a "Nightly News"-style video program that provides ed-tech newscasts commercial-free and copyright cleared to schools and colleges and to educational cable channels at no charge to the schools or viewers.

Recent data show 84.6 percent of U.S. households currently have cable television, and a large percentage of those have public-education programming. "So the fact that TechWatch comes as a videocast makes it especially convenient for school cable channels and their viewers. We're delighted to be able to offer eSN-TV programming to all of them absolutely free of charge," says Downey.

To date, eSN-TV has partnered with a dozen school districts, which broadcast eSN-TV to their constituents. These districts represent more than 2 million households.

Produced by the award-winning journalists at the national newspaper eSchool News, the program also is posted to eSN Online (
http://www.eschoolnews.com/vrc\). eSN Online is the world's most visited ed-tech publication web site, according to Amazon.com's web-site-rating service, Alexa.

Videocasts from eSN-TV also are posted to YouTube, Yahoo Video, and Google Video. The newspaper's video programming is available as podcasts through the Apple iTunes web site as well. Recent content covered on eSN-TV includes:

* A review of a highly controversial plan to overhaul K-12 education;

* Reaction to the student-cell-phone ban in the largest U.S. school district;

* A look at America's 'most wired' colleges and universities; and

* Insights on the ed-tech revolution from best-selling futurist Ray Kurzweil.

Educational Visionaries Highlighted on eSN-TV's Newest Program

To provide even more compelling programming for education, eSN-TV launched Visions of Innovation. This video program gives ed-tech innovators an opportunity to describe their vision for education, discuss emerging trends, and talk about what's next for school technology. Most importantly, they explain how schools and students are achieving success as a result of their innovative approaches.

The Visions of Innovation programs run for 20-30 minutes, but are also divided into shorter segments. The shows are available at eSN Online for at least three months. And as with TechWatch, this program also is uploaded to iTunes, Yahoo and YouTube. To view the most recent Visions of Innovation program, go to
